I'm physically punching the air right now, because Netflix has finally confirmed that Virgin River season 7 will be released on March 12, 2026.

Many of us were expecting new episodes to air in December 2025 like the last two seasons, but Emily in Paris season 5 took the Christmas schedule slot instead. While it's been frustrating to wait even longer when we know filming finished earlier last year, I think it's all for a good reason.

If you cast your mind back to the season 6 cliffhanger, our romantic leads Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) got married at long last. But their wedding left us with five key cliffhangers.

The shift to a springtime release signals another time jump in the fictional town, and that means one said cliffhanger could be answered incredibly quickly.

Spoilers for Virgin River season 6 ahead!

Of course, I'm talking about Mel and Jack's surrogacy dilemma. At the end of season 6, Mel’s surrogate patient turns up at the cabin after her wedding – the parents, that the pair have been working with all season long, are backing out of the adoption.

The surrogate wants Mel to have the baby, leaving her stunned. In true Netflix fashion, we never found out how she actually felt about the proposition.

From our first-look image, enough time has passed since the wedding for Mel and Jack to be blissfully settled into married life... and blissfulness means having no problems. If this is true, we can assume the pair have made a decision about the baby.

Other cliffhangers to look out for include Brie (Zibby Allen) needing to decide whether she wants to marry Mike (Marco Grazzini), Brady getting his money back from Lark (Elise Gatien), Doc (Tim Matheson)possibly having his surgery taken away from him, and Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) disappearing off the face of the earth.

All being well, Mel and Jack become parents in 2026, something that happened in the original book series much earlier on. Come on, Netflix, I know you've been holding out on us for a very good reason.
