  • A new House of the Dragon season 3 update has set tongues wagging among fans
  • Ominous new quotes have appeared on various Game of Thrones social media accounts
  • Some think that they're teasing a release date and/or trailer unveiling

The first trailer and official launch date for House of the Dragon season 3 might not be too far away from being revealed. Well, if a pair of sinister new posts on numerous Game of Thrones (GoT) social media channels are anything to go by.

Today (February 17), new posts were shared on the official Thrones and House of the Dragon (HotD) feeds, with each one containing a menacing quote. Where the former is concerned, the words "There will be no mercy..." can be seen, while the latter's displays the saying "We march now towards our annihilation...".

Understandably, the posts have sparked excitement within the GoT community, with some now suggesting that they herald the start of this season's promotional push.

House of the Dragon season 3 is set to debut on our screens in mid-2026, so it's not a huge surprise that HBO is beginning to ramp up its marketing campaign for the HBO Max TV original. Nonetheless, some fans believe that these posts indicate it won't be long until its first trailer and an official release date are revealed.

When might House of the Dragon season 3's release date and trailer be revealed?

If I were a betting man, I'd wager that the forthcoming season's launch date and inaugural teaser will be unveiled after A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' (AKotSK) season 1 finale.

AKotSK, which is set between HotD and Thrones, will depart our screens after the sixth and final chapter of its debut season airs in the coming days. Depending on where you're based, it'll premiere on many of the world's best streaming services on February 22 or 23.

Considering GoT devotees and more casual viewers will be tuning into the last entry of AKotSK season 1, it makes sense for HBO to begin promoting House of the Dragon's next season as soon as its sibling show ends. I'd be shocked if, at the very least, we don't get a short teaser and/or release date confirmation once AKotSK episode 6's end credits have finished rolling.

Whenever season 3's debut trailer and launch date are announced, we already know it won't be the end of House of the Dragon. Indeed, last November, HBO confirmed it had renewed House of the Dragon for a fourth and potentially final season, so there'll be one more eight-part installment to come after the forthcoming season's race has been run.
