Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the build-up to the Ghost of Yotei PS5 and controller pre-orders that are beginning tomorrow!

These limited edition versions of PS5 hardware look absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to get my hands on at least something from the collection.

I've been around the block when it comes to hardware launches so you can keep it right here for the best links, most useful info, and everything else to help you nab your limited edition PS5, DualSense, or console cover.

Key info - pre-order timings

Right, let's get into the key information to make sure we're all on the right page ahead of pre-orders dropping.

First and foremost, when do Ghost of Yotei PS5 console and controller pre-orders open?

Simply, pre-orders will kick off at 10am local time around the world (at participating retailers, like PlayStation Direct) tomorrow, September 4, 2025.

Simple!

What's actually on offer?

Whast makes this hardware launch special is that it isn't a single-product release like a single DualSense or console cover. There are multiple things on offer here, including:

• A black-artwork-themed PS5 bundle
• A gold-artwork-themed PS5 bundle
• A black-artwork-themed PS5 controller
• A gold-artowkr-themed PS5 controller
• Gold-artowkr-themed PS5 Slim console cover
• Gold-artwork-themed PS5 Pro console cover

As a result there's plenty to consider, and plenty to weigh up depending on how hard you want to go.

As you can see, I've mentioned two different colored artworks there, and this is perhaps the most interesting thing about these limited edition products...

Two distinct styles

Across the PS5 bundles and DualSense controllers there are two distinct varieties that area available.

While both share the same beige-y colorway, the use of black and gold as the primary art color on both is intentional and deeply meaningful.

The gold artwork evokes and relates to the Japanese art form of kintsugi, where gold is mixed with lacquer to repair broken ceramics; while the black artwork is very redolent of the Japanese art form of Sumi-e, where black ink is used on art.

The result on these PS5 hardware items is distinct styles and a collector's dream: I, for example, simply must have variants of both in some form.

What's available where?

Broadly speaking, we're going to see some great availability of the Ghost of Yotei PS5 consoles and controller pre-orders. However there is one or two key bits of info to be aware of.

In short, and in an attempt to be concise:

• The black console and controller will only be available at PS Direct - gold will be available there and at other retailers
• The console covers will likely be PS Direct exclusives as we don't see them up for sale at other places regularly

By the way, with the Black artwork-inspired gear only being available from PS Direct, I expect that to be the hottest stuff of the collection.

Even more so with everyone being funnelled to one location to try and get the console bundle or DualSense.

If you're going to be gunning for those items, then I'd focus all your efforts there when pre-orders kick off.

We're nearly at the end of business hours in the UK, and after a thorough look around at all the retailers, I can't find any listing pages up yet.

I think I remember previous times where this has happened the day before pre-orders in both instances: sometimes pages are up early, some are not. I imagine we'll see some action in the early UK morning, though, ahead of the 10am pre-order time.

I am back and excited to be here with you as we race toward the first pre-orders opening up for the limited edition Ghost of Yotei PS5 hardware opening at 10am UK time!

What are you going for today?

So, what are you most excited for today out of the collection?

For me, the DualSense controllers are the priority as I love collecting them, and those designs are exquisite. I might be tempted by the PS5 Pro plates as well, but with the way my console is stored, I'm not sure I'd get the best use or enjoyment out of them.

Either way, I've got all the relavant pages open and ready to go myself for personal use, so you know I'm invested in this deeply as well - I'll help you get whatever you need out of the collection.

I've done a quick sweep throughout the retailers - paying particular attention to PlayStation Direct - but there are no listing pages live yet.

Nothing to worry about on one hand. but I'd expect to start seeing some come up soon as we're now less than an hour and a half from Ghost time.

Still some retailers missing

While a bunch of UK retailers have joined PlayStation Direct in offering stock, there are still some major players missing that I'd have expected to be involved.

The likes of Argos, Currys, EE, and John Lewis are the most conspicuous absentees. Maybe they 'll come to the party soon - but in the meantime, PlayStation Direct, Amazon UK, The Game Collection, and ShopTo look like great bets right now.

We're now less than two hours away from US pre-orders opening up and joining the action.

More and more pre-orders are going live

I'm seeing even more console and controller pre-order pages live at various retailers in the US now. A lot of places, such as Best Buy and Walmart, require you to sign in and join a queue to buy both items. GameStop, on the other hand, has gone with the requirement of a GameStop Pro membership in order to buy console bundle or DualSense. In any case, you should have a good chance of getting what you want right now, along with the solid availability at PS Direct.
