Boxing Day deals are live in New Zealand!

Wrapped presents

Hello and welcome to TechRadar's live coverage of the best Boxing Day sales in New Zealand. I'll be keeping this guide updated with all the latest sales, deals and discounts in New Zealand, with products from brands like Apple, Samsung, Bose and more.

While Black Friday is still the king of seasonal sales, Boxing Day sales go toe-to-toe with Black Friday, often times offering even better prices than we see in November. Plus, it's a great time to grab that tech that is both too expensive to grab throughout the year, and doesn't really work as a Christmas gift – like a PlayStation 5, a new laptop, tablet or TV, as well as ever-popular buys like AirPods, Apple Watches, headphones, the Nintendo Switch and streaming devices.

So, don't waste time trawling through pages of deals to find the best one for you – I've done it for you. I'll be updating this page with New Zealand's best Boxing Day deals. All you have to do is pick your favourites!

This deal is not Nothing

Nothing Phone 3 on pink background with "Big Savings" text overlay

Nothing is a brand that dares to be different, which you'll immediately notice from its design aesthetic. It could conceivably be considered divisive, but I love the fact it stands out in a sea of other phones that all look alike.

And while Nothing has been making a name in the more mid-range or budget space, its latest is a premium flagship.

Our reviewer liked the Nothing Phone 3 and docked marks mostly for it being, well, premium. However, shop on Amazon and the black variant can be picked up with over NZ$600 knocked off its price. That's a great discount, and makes it much more accessible and, perhaps more importantly, more desirable.

Outsized vacuum deal

Dyson Gen5 Outsize

If you have a large home that needs a vacuum that's up to the task of keeping it clean as a whistle, the Dyson Gen5outsize is the tool for the job.

A larger version of the regular Gen5detect, the Outsize model gets a bigger battery that lasts up to 70 minutes with non-motorised tools and set at the lowest suction, which may not be enough for some family homes, but you can buy an extra pack to get up to 140 minutes.

The Digital Motorbar for carpets and the Fluffy Optic for hard floors are also bigger than the ones shipping with the other Dyson vacuums – the larger footprint means you cover more ground during vacuuming and get the job done faster. And the 1.9L bin is 150% bigger than the standard Dyson canister.

And in this early Boxing Day deal at PB Tech, the Absolute model gets a whopping NZ$761 slashed from its price!

Boxing Day deals shopping tips

Tips for last-minute shoppers

It’s the week of Christmas, and while the festive spirit is in full swing, the reality of forgotten shopping has hit. If you’re looking to capitalise on Boxing Day sales in New Zealand but can no longer count on Amazon’s delivery services to make it in time, don’t worry – there are still excellent ways to score last-minute deals before Christmas day.

Consider Same-Day Delivery Options

Some stores, like JB Hi-Fi, offer on-demand delivery through services such as Uber, which can be a lifesaver if you find a deal you love and want it delivered straight to your door without waiting. JB Hi-Fi offers two types of Uber deliveries in metro areas:

ASAP Delivery: Your order will be delivered within 90 minutes to 2 hours of placing it.

Scheduled Delivery: If available, you can select a 2-hour delivery window during the store’s operating hours.

Eligibility: Orders must be placed within 20km of a store offering Uber delivery. Available 7 days a week from store opening until 2 hours before closing time.

Opt for In-Store Pickup

The smartest move, if you spot a deal on our curated Boxing Day sales page, is to order online for in-store pickup. Why? This ensures the item is in stock before you brave the retail madness. Plus, your order will be ready and waiting for you to collect, saving you time and stress. Most major retailers offer this option, making it an ideal way to shop. PB Tech even guarantees that click-and-collect orders will be ready for collection in one hour – place your order, get dressed, drive to the store and voila, it's ready to grab and go.

What to Do About Amazon Bargains

If the deal you’ve spotted is on Amazon but delivery isn’t feasible, don’t give up. Check physical stores like PB Tech for the same product. These retailers often match or closely align with Amazon’s pricing, especially during major sales events like Boxing Day. You might just find the same item for a comparable price and with the added bonus of immediate availability.

One button coffee

Nespresso Vertuo Pop on green background with "Don't Miss" text

While I would ultimately recommend a more feature-packed coffee machine for true coffee covers, you can't beat the convenience of a Nespresso machine – and the Vertuo Pop is perhaps the best of the bunch.

This compact machine uses the Vertuo range of pods, opening up 6 possible sizes, from espresso through to a large mug. I do now have a fully automatic machine in my kitchen, but I still use my Vertuo Pop from time to time, and I've owned it since it launched in 2023.

Nespresso NZ lists the RRP at NZ$269, but right now on Amazon, you can get either the black or white model for just NZ$95.46.

The power of steam in an air fryer

The Philips 5000 Series Dual Basket Air Fryer XXL Steam on a table

(Image credit: Sharmishta Sarkar / TechRadar)

There aren't too many air fryers that allow you to cook with steam, but this Philips 5000 Series model does. It's a rare breed, and having steam power not only means you can steam veggies and dumplings with excellent results, but you can combine steaming and air frying too.

Why would you want to do that? Well, the dedicated air fry+steam mode on this dual-basket appliance makes it great to keep the moisture within tender meat, and yet get crispy skin on chicken and pork belly. This premium model also has a steam-clean function, but there are caveats, that you can find out more about in our in-depth Philips 5000 Series Dual Basket XXL Air Fryer Steam review.

Otherwise everything our reviewer cooked in this came out fantastic. So it's definitely worth the investment when there's a generous discount available. Make sure you apply the NZ$11.49 coupon to score the full 21% discount.

Ring Stick Up camera wired, outdoors

It can often be a product category that flies under your radar, but investing in some top-rated home security cameras can help give you ultimate peace of mind when you're away from home.

Ring is a brand name you've likely heard before, as it pretty much spearheaded the surge in popularity for video doorbells. And right now, you can save a pretty penny on a range of Ring home security devices at Amazon AU, with some devices receiving as much as 50% off.

• Ring Outdoor Camera (Stick-up): was NZ$179.05 NZ$102.14

I Sense this is a great coffee machine deal

Sunbeam Origins Sense espresso machine on a kitchen counter, surrounded by coffee cups and milk jugs.

The early Boxing Day sales have delivered some great discounts on an array of coffee machines, and I'm now adding this huge saving on the rather excellent Sunbeam Origins Sense into the mix.

I've used this exact machine myself, and I found it delivered an excellent shot of espresso each and every time. Plus, it's main party trick is a steam wand that has a built-in thermometer, allowing it to automatically shut off when it reaches a set temperature – thus making it ideal for plant-based milks.

While it does have a built-in bean grinder, and the steam wand is semi-automatic, you will need to tamp the coffee grounds yourself (a tamper is provided in the box). I did find this part of the process could get a little messy, but unless you get a fully-automatic machine, that's par for the course.

Sunbeam lists the RRP as NZ$999, so the NZ822.68 price available right now at Amazon AU represents a great saving. Just make sure to apply the NZ$16.09 coupon to get the full saving.

A close shave

Manscaped Beard Hedger beard trimmer on bathroom a sink, next to its box.

Men, you're not exactly left wanting when it comes to beard trimmers and other grooming tools, but finding one that works for you isn't always as easy as it sounds. So, take it from me, the Manscaped Beard Hedger is definitely worth the investment.

I use this beard trimmer personally and I find it super easy to use and it leaves a perfect trim. It can cut to a number of different lengths, including 0.5mm increments, it's fully waterproof and recharges easily via USB-C.

The only thing I would say is that the main cutting head is quite large compared to some other trimmers, such as those from Philips. This means it can cut a large area in one swoop, but it can make cutting up at the top of the jaw a little awkward.

Otherwise, I can't fault it, especially at this discounted price for Boxing Day at Amazon AU.

Dreaming of the perfect blow-dry? It's under NZ$90 away

Dreame Gleam hair dryer on reviewer's dressing table

You really don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a hair dryer for healthy tresses after each wash. Dreame's affordable Hair Gleam hair dryer is a Dyson Supersonic competitor that costs a fraction of what the Supersonic does, even at full price. And a generous 60% discount makes it even more accessible, available now for just NZ$81.68 in two colour options.

This is fantastic value for money as you get fast and efficient drying without the harsh heat from some other hair dryers. There are different heat and airflow settings that care for the scalp and strands – sure, it's not as smart as the Supersonic Nural but then it's also not as expensive.

If you're after an affordable hair dryer that will get the job done, it's easy for us to recommend the Dreame Hair Gleam. You can read more about it in our in-depth Dreame Hair Gleame review.

A talented stick vacuum for 63% off? Yes please!

Dreame U20 vacuuming with blue light

It's no secret that there's no shortage of options when searching for a stick vacuum cleaner, and if you're on a budget, then the Dreame U20 is a fantastic, cost-friendly option.

Why am I so confident in saying that? Well, because my vacuum-expert colleague, Sharmishta Sarkar, has added it to her definitive guide to the best cordless vacuum cleaners – and right now for Boxing Day, you can save a huge 63%, which brings the price down to an even more affordable NZ$179.05.

This model isn't listed on the official Dreame NZ website, and I've only seen it available on Amazon, so you could be looking at very limited stock. Moreover, this offer is so good, I don't see stock levels lasting too long.

If you need a vacuum for those quick cleanups, even if it's going after pet hair, you won't regret this purchase.

Portable air fryer anyone?

Ninja Crispi air fryer

The Ninja Crispi is a curious, rather unique air fryer. Its headline feature is the fact it's portable, so you can take it with you to the office, for example, where you can use it to enjoy freshly cooked meals.

It also comes with a variety of glass cooking dishes, which double up as storage containers. It offers 4 different cooking modes, with the air fry mode being particularly impressive (we did find in our Ninja Crispi review that the baking mode was the weakest of all).

If you want an air fryer that doesn't take up too much space on the kitchen counter, then this is absolutely a model you should consider, especially now it's received a 30% discount at Amazon AU for Boxing Day. Just note that only the Stone colourway is discounted.

The small Shark with a big bite

Shark Detect Pro Cordless Vacuum

My colleague, Sharm, has reviewed quite a few vacuum cleaners during her time with TechRadar and she regularly rates the Shark Cordless Detect Pro with Auto-Empty System as one of the best vacuum cleaners in Australia and it also maintains a spot in her guide to the best cordless vacuum cleaners too.

It's not the most powerful vacuum, but it balances price and features remarkably well, even when not discounted. Highlights of this vacuum cleaner, aside from its good value, it its prowess at cleaning room edges where dust tends to accumulate. The cleaner head's light is superfluous and it doesn't quite light up dust particles like Dyson's Fluffy Optic does, but it can be handy to see into dark corners or under furniture.

Sharm's favourite part of the Shark Cordless Detect Pro is its auto-empty docking station. It's not as powerful as Samsung's Clean Station, but she loves the fact that it doesn't need replaceable dust bags, so there's no ongoing costs. You can clean and wash the box, let it dry and pop it back on again.

And best of all, it's received a huge 48% discount for Boxing Day at PB Tech, making this an opportune moment to snap it up at an excellent price.

I've linked both prices below, but I'm focusing here on the pair without ANC as they're down to NZ$194.99 (down from NZ$249). That's only a 22% discount, but it's considering it's been a while since we've seen discount on these in-ears, it's one worth shouting about.

If you want the ANC version (which really is very good indeed) you can grab them for NZ$294 (down from NZ$349).

Kindle me this!

The Amazon Kindle ereaders are some of the best you can get, offering a seamless reading experience, coupled with a well-stocked and easy-to-use book store.

The Kindle Paperwhite is one of our favourites, and interestingly, it's not Amazon that has the best price for Boxing Day, but PB Tech.

My colleague, Sharm, is a bookworm and TechRadar's resident ereader expert, and she loves the Paperwhite's screen. The E Ink Carta 1300 display shines here, and whatever Amazon has done to the software to tweak performance has worked. It's all quick and snappy and just how you want it. Can't complain about the battery life either.

Her biggest complaint was that this tweaked software is quite large and if you're opting for the standard Paperwhite with its 16GB storage, about 4.5GB is taken up by the OS, leaving you with 11.5GB. Now, that's plenty for thousands of ebooks, but if you're purchasing audiobooks as well from the Kindle Store, you'll run out of storage rather quickly.

The other issue I have is that Amazon has disabled Bluetooth connectivity in Australia, so you actually can't listen to those audiobooks you download via a set of paired headphones. To me, that diminishes the per-dollar value of the device.

Retro film photography in a digital body

If you love the aesthetic of film photography but don't want to deal with the hassle (or expense) of film rolls, then you'll surely be interested to learn you can get the retro look from a digital camera.

That's exactly what the Fujifilm X Half let's you do – it emulates half-frame film photography by creating 3:4 vertical images on a 1-inch sensor. To help ensure your pics look as authentic as possible, there's a dedicated film camera mode that tracks your shots and prevents you from being able to review them on the display.

Admittedly, it's not a powerhouse camera but it sure is a nifty compact that has plenty of appeal. Even better is the fact that it's dropped in price dramatically, which makes it all the more enticing.
