Watch ASB Classic 2026 live streams today, as the new WTA Tour tennis season is back with a bang from Auckland, New Zealand.
One of the traditional warm-up events for the upcoming Australian Open at the end of January, the ASB Classic has attracted a fascinating mix of established names and bright young things in 2026.
The top seed is Elina Svitolina in her return to the tour after taking a break in the second half of last year to prioritize her mental health and recover from some nagging injuries. The Ukrainian can hit winners from anywhere and looked fresh in her first-round victory over Varvara Gracheva.
Arguably the most intriguing name in the draw is fourth seed Alexandra Eala. The 20-year-old from the Philippines enters the tournament as the world No.52 but with a burgeoning reputation as one of the hottest properties on tour. Iva Jovic, ranked No.3 in Auckland, is two years younger and is another young starlet making waves with her first WTA Tour title, in Guadalajara, to her name in 2025.
There have already been some casualties. Second seed Emma Navarro, after an excellent 2025, fell 7-5 2-6 6-4 in the first round to Brit Francesca Jones, who recorded her first win on tour against a player in the top 50. Meanwhile, Venus Williams performed creditably on her latest comeback as she hopes for a wild card in the Aussie Open, but lost in three sets to fifth seed Magda Linette.
Whatever happens this week, a new will be on the trophy, with 2025 champion Clara Tasuon prefering to play the Brisbane International.
