Today, February 17, officially marks the start of the Lunar New Year, with the year of the Fire Horse prompting a multi-week celebration focusing on having a “fresh start” for those who take part.
Retailers across New Zealand are joining in the celebrations, running their own Lunar New Year sales offering deals on a variety of tech with a focus on living spaces.
Some of the deals include TVs, and you might be eyeing a new one for the upcoming sports events that you or your family will be looking forward to watching – like the Super Rugby Pacific that kicks off this week, the T20 World Cup “Super Eight” stage next week, and the FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers next month.
I’ve also found some deals on small appliances to help you prepare some cold beverages to enjoy during game day, including some blenders and even a slushie machine.
Without further ado, here are the five best New Zealand tech deals I’ve found scouring the web:
Key retailers in New Zealand
- Amazon AU: low prices on tech, home appliances and much, much more
- Andoo: kitchen appliances, small appliances, TVs, Audio and heating
- Apple: iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Apple TV 4K, AirPods and more

- Dell NZ: great discounts on PCs, laptops and peripherals
- Dyson NZ: up to NZ$600 off vacuums, hair styling tools and more

The five best deals in New Zealand this week
The LG C5 is our most recommended TV for most people thanks to its excellent picture quality and premium features. While close to NZ$3,000 is hardly a cheap purchase, the LG C5 provides TV tech that is more commonly found in significantly more expensive TVs. It shines especially in gaming with a 144Hz refresh rate and support for FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync.
If you’re considering making smoothies and drinks on the go, Ninja has upgraded its popular Blast personal blender by adding in a more powerful motor and a tougher blade unit. Our reviewer found it was able to blitz even difficult, fibrous ingredients like kale into silky smoothies with just a single blending cycle. The upgraded parts have made the Blast Max a little pricier, but this discount brings it to the same price of the regular Ninja Blast.
This TV from Samsung aims to be more of a fashion-forward addition to your living space rather than a conventional 4K TV. Samsung’s The Frame has a burnished metal frame, encasing the LCD panel and various vents along the sides, which makes the TV look just like a slim picture frame when mounted on a wall. This TV came out a few years ago, hence the relatively steep discount, but if this TV is up your alley then this deal might just be tempting enough.
This large screen 2-in-1 laptop from HP uses a latest-generation Intel Series 2 Core Ultra 5 226V CPU for solid performance and long battery life. The 16-inch touchscreen OLED display has a 3K (2880 x 1800) resolution, great for media consumption and for creative work. It also comes with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. The OLED display makes this 36% discount a lot more tempting, especially if you’re upgrading from an older laptop.
February may be the final month of summer in New Zealand, but it’s still warm enough to enjoy a homemade slushie – I personally love frozen treats even during the winter! In any case, the Ninja Slushi will make frozen drinks a lot better than even our best blenders can muster. Spending NZ$579.99 a single use appliance is usually a big ask for most households, but this discount should make it more attractive if you make a lot of frozen drinks.

Scoring NZ$500 off Dyson's powerful cordless vac is a great deal in my opinion. And since this is the Complete model, you get a plethora of attachments catering to all your cleaning needs. The standout has to be the Fluffy Optic cleaning head that illuminates invisible dust on hard floors to ensure you can capture every last mote, while a number of crevice tools help to reach those tricky areas.
Apple's latest noise-cancelling buds represent a significant upgrade from the AirPods Pro 2, but at full price they’re significantly more expensive. This discount takes care of that nicely (although if you're a Pro 2 user it's not worth the upgrade). New features in this model include a heart-rate monitor and even better ANC than before. I personally also think they're the best-fitting AirPods Apple has made to date.
Perfect for the Waitangi Day festivities, this portable speaker from Bose is small enough to stuff in some pockets and won’t take up too much room in your bag. If you have other Bose speakers, this can be linked as the other half of a stereo pair, or used in Bose’s Party Mode functionality to play the same music on multiple speakers. This deal direct from Bose NZ is the lowest so far across the country.
This classic stick vacuum from Dyson is the company’s most affordable model and this discount makes it even more tempting for anyone looking to upgrade to a modern stick vacuum. While this doesn’t have the latest and greatest tech, it’ll still do the basics quite adequately. With up to 40 minutes of fade free suction, it can easily clean hard floors, carpets and more. It can also be used as a compact handheld vacuum, making it easy to access hard to reach spaces.
This HP 2-in-1 laptop features a vibrant OLED display with a max brightness of 500 nits, along with a comfortable keyboard and touchpad that should appeal to anyone valuing productivity and media consumption. This variant also features an Intel Core Ultra 7 for speedy performance. To get this price, use the coupon code HP711 at checkout.
This 2-in-1 MagSafe-compatible charger from Ugreen allows you to simultaneously charge your iPhone (from 12 series and up) and your AirPods (or other earbuds and accessories that support wireless charging). The phone charger is rated at 7.5W and the bottom charger is at 5W, but Ugreen says using a charging adapter of at least 25W (sold separately) would further maximise charging efficiency. For any discerning Apple fan, this deal makes this charger hard to pass up.
When these first came out in 2023, Soundcore positioned them as a much cheaper competitor to the premium noise-cancelling headphones from Sony and Bose. I did own a pair and I’d say the company’s claims check out – the ANC was great for the price, but the lengthy battery life was arguably its best feature. TechRadar’s review noted that it feels a bit cheap, but for NZ$168, it’s hardly a dealbreaker.
The Dreame Hair Gleame hair dryer is an affordable alternative to premium options from bigger brands, retaining a similar aesthetic to some that have a cult-like following. Performance-wise it’s no slouch with its motor spinning at 110,000 RPM for fast airflow and quick drying. It also has built-in ion technology, which results in smooth, shiny hair. The slim and lightweight build also makes it easy to use and comfortable to hold.
Apple’s AirTags is a nice piece of kit if you’re in the Apple ecosystem, but these trackers from Ugreen are a cheaper alternative that also won’t require a separate holder for it to be attached to your keys and other belongings. This discount makes it an even cheaper option, especially if you don’t need the AirTag’s extra-precision finding tech.
If you’re a frequent traveller or if you’re just looking to have a single charging brick for all your smaller tech, this three-port 65W charger from Ugreen delivers fast charging even with all three slots taken. Our reviewer wasn’t a fan of its looks and the fact that the prongs aren’t foldable (a limitation of using GaN technology), but for this price, I’m sure those are minor enough to overcome for most of you.
It's got a cult-like following and two members of our own staff are massive fans. If you love your chilled desserts – ice creams, gelatos, smoothies – but want to control your calorie intake, you really should consider getting the Ninja Creami. This Deluxe edition gets you three containers, which is great value at this price.
These affordable earbuds with ANC are brimming with features, including a range of ANC modes, EQ presets and other audio adjustments. They sound good (but you'll want to tweak it from the default) and they'll last up to 7.5 hours with ANC on before they need a recharge. Check out our Earfun Air Pro 4 review for more info and take advantage of this offer.
This ergonomic vertical mouse is perfect for small hands and it encourages better posture, thus reducing aches along the wrist, shoulder and shoulder blade. I use it myself (I have the white colourway) and can't recommend it highly enough, even at full price.
This might be an entry-level camera but it has some advanced features. Anyone who wants to shoot wildlife or sports will be thrilled with the 40fps burst speed, and it inherits some of the tracking precision from Canon's higher-end cameras too. With a 24.2MP full-frame sensor, it's one of the lightest cameras available today and represents excellent value for a beginner.
It's been cheaper than this before, but this is still a fantastic saving on an excellent Nikon full-framer. The 24.6MP sensor can shoot at up to 120fps, records 6K video, has built-in image stabilisation and has dual card slots, including one for a CFexpress device to make full use of its speed.
By now you probably already own GTA 5, and given it's sold over 200 million copies you're in good company. But just in case, you can grab it for PS5 or Xbox for one of the cheapest prices we have seen. If you've somehow never heard of GTA 5 at all, then rest assured there are plenty of good reasons why people are still buying it today.
Bright, easy to use and even more easily expanded, the Philips Hue lightstrip is the go-to LED light strip for a reason. Pairing it with the Hue Bridge unlocks its true power, and it's a clean way to add accent lighting to any surface, with a range of brightness and colour options to choose from.
Want to make your home movies more immersive? This Govee backlight and camera system effectively extends the on-screen image beyond its bezelled confines and accurately tracks colours and flashes to the wall behind. It can also sync with music to dance along to your favourite tunes. Note that this is designed for 55 to 65-inch TVs.
There is excellent value for money here as this one tool will take care of hair anywhere on the body. It comes with 15 attachments and offers 26 hair length settings. Its battery life also promises to be just as good – up to 4 weeks on a single charge. It also happens to be waterproof.
